It was an exciting moment here at Lowd Vans when the final components for the prototype Winkipop cabinets came off the CNC router in December, just in time for the Australian summer! We will very soon be going live with our online store but for now here are some holiday snaps to whet your appetite...
Everything went together beautifully and we were all set to put our brand new streamlined van interior through its paces for the annual family break at the stunning Wilson's Prom national park. It was wonderful to have a place for everything and everything in its place. No more awkward crates and endless carrier bags. No more frustrated cursing "I know it's here somewhere...."
It all worked like a dream, ably providing base camp for two families of four. There was a daily scramble for the charging station for phones & devices. We ran entirely off solar power for the fortnight thanks to the permanent solar panel mounted on the pop-top plus a fold-out portable panel to charge the 130Ah deep cycle battery via the rear portal in Locker 2.
As we weren't touring, we did most of our cooking outside on a Weber Baby Q but the butane single burner in the van was great for that early morning tea in bed! The Waeco fridge beat the summer heat and we even managed to hold back a sneaky pack of frozen prawns for a green curry on the last night!
The pull-out larder cabinet was a revelation. Even we were astonished just how much it could hold. How did we ever live without it? Four shelves of easily accessible space for all your store cupboard ingredients. And it even opens when the bed is extended.
Last but not least, it's the little extras that make all the difference: a well-stocked wine rack and the scent of fresh Thai basil growing in the herb rack. Customised here with a bottle opener and blackboard for the daily menu.
