Customer service

How can I contact you?

Our preferred method of communication is by email sales@lowdvans.com  You are also welcome to call the studio on 61 3 9689 9929

How long will my order take to come?

Lowd Vans products are cut-to-order. Pre-ordering allows us to offer a choice of colours and layouts without wasting materials or holding unwanted stock. Standard lead time is 5 weeks  from placing your order to despatch.

Please note we take our annual (much needed) break in January so please allow an extended lead time of 8 weeks for orders placed in the run up to Christmas / new year.

How long do the cabinets take to assemble?

A typical cabinet should take about 3-4 hours to put together. A complete assembly will take a long weekend. We include comprehensive, fully-illustrated instructions to guide you all the way.

Is the plywood easy to maintain?

The 12mm plywood components are all factory finished with a moisture-proof, maintenance-free durable film coating. The 4mm ply fascia pieces are supplied raw and will require a clear acrylic spray lacquer (available in a can from hardware stores).

I'm not very handy, do you offer an assembly service?

We do not offer an assembly service ourselves but can often recommend a local installation specialist near you.

Where can I see examples of your products installed?

We have a complete Winkipop fit out in our 1973 pop-top kombi. You are welcome to make an appointment to visit us in Melbourne. We use our kombi as a daily drive and work van so it is often out and about so PLEASE NOTE, VISITS ARE BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.

We can also be found at VW events and various pop-ups throughout the year.
We often feature photographs of our customers' vans on our Instagram and Facebook pages.

I love your designs but will they fit a Splitty?

Our new Fairhaven assembly suits VW T1 splitscreen vans with full width rock and roll bed.

How much do the cabinets weigh?

Our cabinets are made from 12mm birch plywood to minimise weight. Approximate weights are as follows: Winkipop complete assembly 100kg; Roadknight complete assembly 70kg; Jan Juc complete assembly 65kg.

How do the cabinets attach to the van?

The cabinets bolt to each other to form a rigid unit. We then recommend bolting through the floor and screwing into the side panels of the van as required. The Island Cabinet is designed to be easily removable with two bolts to fix through to the rear of the passenger seat bulkhead.

My kombi has a deluxe upholstery trim, will the cabinets still fit?

Our cabinets have been designed to fit a basic spec T2 or T3 interior. If you have padded bulkhead seat backs or a raised floor we recommend you take detailed measurements and check key dimensions with us before placing your order.

Do you offer any customisation?

We have developed a broad range of products to meet most needs, with a number of standard variations and add-on accessories available. We are not able to undertake individual custom projects.

Do you have stock for immediate delivery?

Our products are cut to order however we occasionally have ex-display samples available for local pick up - please check under product listings.

What is the delivery charge for a complete assembly?

Shipping costs are calculated at checkout according to your location and order weight. You are welcome to pick up from our Melbourne studio if you are local.

Can I pick up in my car or do I need a trailer?

Each cabinet is bundled separately so a full assembly will fit into the back of a hatch back car with the seats down.

What fridge do you recommend?

Our Fridge Cabinets are designed to take the Dometic CoolMatic CRX50 45L fridge / freezer. The Bushman DC50X will also fit. We run our fridge off a second battery under rear seat / a flexible solar panel mounted on our pop top.

What stove do you recommend?

There is provision to use a single hob butane burner on the top of the Winkipop Fridge Cabinet or Roadknight Larder Cabinet. Please note: recent modifications to the design of these burners (globally) means their height now exceeds the depth of the shelf under the closed lid. We recommend removing the top trivet to facilitate storage.

What aftermarket bed seat do you recommend?

Our cabinets have been designed to fit with the Kustom Kombi ADR (Australian Design Rules) approved Rock and Roll bed - this is our preferred supplier. Most also work with the Just Kampers bed frame but some minor adjustments may be required. Note: the design & dimensions of rock & roll beds may vary. Please contact us to discuss if you have any concerns regarding the fit.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, by arrangement. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.
